Agility is first and foremost a mindset that enables a rapid response to changing market needs in our VUCA world. Agility is not synonymous with chaos; rather, it is a response to chaos, that is, an effective way of dealing with chaotic and disruptive conditions. There are various agile methods and structures that promote flexible and adaptable collaboration among cross-functional and empowered teams. Depending on the organization, different approaches may be appropriate.

The acronym stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous. In a business context, the term describes our rapidly changing, disruptive, and complex world, which presents companies and individuals with major challenges and uncertainties.

stands for Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible. This term is used in contextual analysis to describe the characteristics of complex, uncertain, and rapidly changing environments. It is used in particular in relation to social, economic, and technological developments to highlight the fragility and uncertainty in these areas. As such, it is a sort of extension of VUCA and was coined by David Passig, an Israeli futurist.

refers to the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others toward a shared vision. It exerts a powerful, driving, and innovative influence through a positive (corporate) culture and the development of people. Leadership is sometimes equated with management; however, management refers to the planning, organization, coordination, and control of resources and processes and is thus focused on the execution of processes. There are inspiring TED Talks on YouTube on this topic, such as “Simon Sinek: Why good leaders give you a sense of security.”

is leadership based on one’s own values, with a strong sense of purpose, deep relationships, a high degree of self-discipline, and following one’s heart. “Authenticity” is a state one strives for throughout life, the better version of oneself. I recommend the book "Authentic Leadership" by Bill George, the TED Talk “Simon Sinek: How Great Leaders Inspire Action,” or the movie "Invictus".

is a structured process in which a coach supports and guides an individual or an entire team in a partnership to help them achieve their professional or personal goals and develop their potential. This involves, for example, identifying obstacles and developing solutions and resources. Coaching is not a protected term, and there are various approaches and methods; however, there are a few associations that ensure the quality, competencies, and ethics of certified coaches, including the DCV (German Coaching Association), DBVC (German Federal Coaching Association), and ICF (International Coaching Federation).

refers to a profound change within an organization or company, which often involves strategic, cultural, and structural changes. It is the most comprehensive form of change undertaken to adapt to new challenges and requirements. Individuals can also undergo a transformation, but often an entire system is affected.

Organizational change management is the process of systematically planning, implementing, and monitoring changes within an organization to ensure that they occur smoothly, effectively, and, above all, sustainably. Organizational change management focuses specifically on organizational changes. There are various approaches; the best known are probably John P. Kotter’s 8-step model (see his book "Leading Change"), PROSCI’s ADKAR® model, and Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s change curve.
