Leadership COACHING WITH
HUMAN SYNERGISTICS®
Leadership has never been morechallenging than it is today.
In addition to technical tasks, it is important to bring together people with different personalities, facilitate change, make decisions, and at the same time achieve business objectives.
Added to this are hybrid collaboration, increasing complexity, and an ever-accelerating pace of change. Sometimes, our own behavior can unknowingly get in the way: For example, we may think we are communicating clearly and constructively, yet misunderstandings and conflicts arise time and again.
Many leaders experience:
Constant stress—even to the point of feeling overwhelmed—when the expected team performance just isn't happening
A certain resistance or blind obedience that they encounter
Frustration when decisions are once again debated or questioned for apparently no reason
Uncertainty regarding the team's actual support, interpersonal relationships, and team spirit
A great deal of frustration, especially when the measures taken never have the desired effect
In my experience, however, our own thinking and behavior—especially when in a leadership role—have the greatest impact on teamwork, as well as on perceived stress levels.
Over the years, we have developed various unconscious patterns shaped by, among other things, our experiences, upbringing, and cultural influences. These patterns are reinforced by the high demands placed on the role. That is why it is worth taking a closer look at our own patterns of thought and behavior first.
We can learn some things from feedback, but despite self-reflection and feedback, we remain unaware of many blind spots. And that’s exactly where these analyses provide clarity and transparency.
So if you find that your intentions, communication, and actions oftenfail to produce the desired results, that the feedback you receive from others isn’t concrete enough, and that your day-to-day leadership experience is marked by stress and tension, coaching based on Human Synergistics®' proven and scientifically grounded behavioral and thinking style analyses might be just what you need.

What are the Human Synergistics® analyses?
Why assess behavior and thinking?
Our thinking and behavior are significantly influenced by patterns we have developed over many years, shaped by our personalities, our experiences, and, not least, the corporate culture in which we work.
When under pressure, we often fall back on precisely these familiar patterns. Some people avoid conflict altogether, others lose themselves in perfectionism, and still others feel the urge to exert tight control over everything or adhere strictly to processes and guidelines.
These strategies—which may have been helpful at one time—can, in day-to-day management, make collaboration more difficult, erode trust, or make change unnecessarily difficult.
The first step toward change, therefore, is not to acquire even more knowledge, but to bring one’s own patterns to light. Feedback and reflection can already reveal quite a bit, but the scientifically grounded analyses from Human Synergistics® provide a much broader picture.
The following applies: Good leadership stems primarily from intensive personal development and reflection. Those who understand their own impact can make more conscious decisions, communicate more clearly, and drive change more effectively.

Human Synergistics® makes leadership visible
The first step toward change, therefore, is not to acquire even more knowledge, but to make one's own patterns visible in the first place.
ACUMEN® Leadership WorkStyles™ (LWS)
With its specific focus on leadership behavior, ACUMEN® Leadership WorkStyles™ is ideal for CEOs, managers, and other leaders who want to reach their full potential.
The ACUMEN® Leadership WorkStyles™ analysis specifically helps leaders change their thinking and behavioral styles in more constructive ways, so that these changes have a positive impact on their effectiveness. This is reflected, among other things, in their professional performance, the quality of their interpersonal relationships, and their ability to solve problems.
The assessment consists of both a self-assessment and a 360° peer evaluation and includes a comprehensive report.
The Circumplex as a Visual Model
The Human Synergistics® Circumplex offers the opportunity to “see” thinking styles and behavioral patterns in their respective forms, as well as how they relate to one another.
It distinguishes three general clusters:
By fostering constructive behaviors through employee development, we help achieve organizational goals, promote teamwork and synergy, and strengthen the adaptability and effectiveness of individuals, groups, and the organization as a whole.
Aggressive-defensive behavior leads people to prioritize their own needs at the expense of their group or company, resulting in stress, high turnover, and inconsistent performance.
Passive-defensive behaviors cause people to subordinate themselves to their company and stifle their creativity and initiative, causing the organization to stagnate.
Within these clusters, the factors of effectiveness are divided into 12 specific styles. These are arranged in a circle based on their relationship to needs (satisfaction vs. security), orientation (task vs. people orientation), and their relationships to one another.
Here's how our collaboration works
Goals & Initial Meeting (approx. 1.5 hours)
We’ll identify your specific challenges and goals and work together to define the scope and focus of our collaboration.
Kick-off & Briefing Session (approx. 30 min)
I’ll walk you through the process, answer any questions you may have, and guide you through the next steps.
Completing the evaluations (individually, about 20 minutes per person)
You’ll complete your self-evaluation, supplemented by 8–12 people of your choosing who will serve as anonymous evaluators.
Debriefing & Development Session (approx. 3 hours)
I’ll introduce you to the Circumplex and explain the report structure; together, we’ll explore and reflect on your results and identify initial actions.
Individual coaching (approx. 1–1.5 hours)
We’ll work through your results in depth to support your long-term personal growth—at least one session is included; I recommend two additional sessions to track your progress in day-to-day business.
The sessions can be held virtually or in person, in German or English, and are typically spread out over 2–4 months.
In leadership teams, it is recommended to conduct these sessions as a group in order to have a more constructive overall impact on the team culture and to establish a culture of mutual feedback in day-to-day work.

Human Synergistics® in Practice
“It’s clear that you’ve been actively working on yourself and your personal development”—this was genuine feedback from a coworker.
Before, the manager was often internally tense, prone to perfectionism, and heavily dependent on the opinions of others.
She tried to foster improvement and good work performance through pressure and hierarchy—unconsciously and with the best of intentions.
However, people can tell when someone isn't confident.
Thanks to the in-depth analyses and coaching, the manager was able to gain a sense of calm while at the same time focusing more of their energy on what was truly important for the team and the organization.
The result: fewer sick days, stronger bonds and deeper trust within the team, a less crowded schedule, more value-added output, and easier adoption of innovations such as AI.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Since each coaching session is tailored individually to your specific needs, there is no flat rate. The cost depends, among other things, on your specific needs, the type of support you desire, whether the coaching takes place individually or in a group, whether a Human Synergistics assessment is used, the current price list, and the number of coaching sessions. For an individual, coaching sessions using the LWS typically start at €2,000; for a group of 5 people, the price range starts at approximately €5,000.
After an appointment to clarify your needs, you'll receive a transparent, customized offer.
-
After clarifying goals and objectives, coachees are guided to reflect on their own behavior through targeted questions and feedback on observations. If necessary, additional models and methods are used to gain an even deeper understanding of underlying factors. This leads to greater clarity and awareness of one’s potential —the foundation for genuine change. Furthermore, we work together to identify resources and define actions, while strengthening the commitment to sustainable change. This allows for faster and more effective implementation and significantly increases the likelihood of achieving one’s development goals. The coachee determines the pace and focus of each session.
-
Typically, 3–10 sessions are recommended. However, this depends on your individual goals. Some managers use coaching as one-time support in a specific situation. Others opt for coaching over several months to sustainably embed comprehensive changes into their day-to-day leadership practices.
-
No. Coaching is also suitable for non-disciplinary managers, such as project leaders or functional managers.
-
Human Synergistics® analyses provide a very transparent and comprehensive picture of one’s own impact, obstacles, and specific areas of potential, thereby serving as a fruitful starting point. Regardless of this, guidance from a coach helps ensure the sustainable implementation of desired changes, so that aspirations quickly translate into real results. Very few people have the self-discipline and objectivity required to achieve profound personal change on their own.
-
Good leadership begins with self-reflection and requires constant personal growth. After all, working with people can involve many conflicts, obstacles, and frustrations. A leader has an enormous impact on a team, so many of the common problems within a team can be positively influenced or resolved “from the top.”
-
A coach is a guide and neutral sounding board who helps you reflect on your personal development, identify individual obstacles, and address them in a targeted manner.
-
Yes. These analyses provide a way to define a concrete starting point and potential development goals. However, a coachee can also come into coaching with their own development goals and challenges and work on them in a targeted manner.
-
No. There are alternative approaches that involve using only self-assessment or only external assessment. However, it’s best to discuss this during our initial appointment to see if that makes sense in your case.
-
No. The coaching program is suitable for both new and experienced leaders. Depending on the individual’s starting point, we focus on different areas. While new leaders often want to find their footing in their role, experienced leaders tend to focus on topics such as change, effectiveness, or the development of their teams.
